All KCAC members,
Please join us Wednesday, December 18th for our annual KCAC Fall/Winter Meeting. The meeting will be held at the Grand Street Café on the Plaza. Our guest speaker, Mark Rowley, VP and Managing Actuary at EMC National Life Company, will be presenting his professionalism topic on the “Review of the Academy’s U.S. Qualification Standards: Pointing out the Good and Discussing Needed Improvements.” This is a great opportunity to pick up another professionalism credit before the end of the year.
The following background information will be helpful for the presentation:
1. http://www.actuary.org/files/qualification_standards.pdf – Mark has encouraged attendees to read the entire standard, but if you have limited time, focus on Sections 1-5.
2. http://www.actuary.org/content/us-qualification-standards-request-comments-will-comments-and-suggestions-be-made-public – Mark has also encouraged attendees to read all the comments, but if time is limited, you should focus on Tonya Manning’s comments starting at the bottom of page 2 where it says “Responses to the Committee’s Specific Questions” and reading through the end of page 8.
